Do I delete Visual Studio 2008 Express to install Visual Studio 2008 Pro?
- I had installed Visual Studio 2008 Express and I instaledl Visual Studio 2008 Pro now I have both versions on that computer.
I really don't think I need both versions on the same computer. How do I delete Visual Studio 2008 Express.

- Hi BobEKofMO,
Welcome to MSDN forums. And thank you for your post.
All the Visual Studio 2008 products can work side by side on the same machine. I have all Visual Studio 2008 Express products and Visual Studio 2008 Team Suite on my machine. They can work well. :)
If you want to remove VS Express products, you can try running AutoUninstall Tool: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/bb968856.aspx to uninstall ALL components installed with Visual Studio 2008 products. This tool won't uninstall shared components between Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Studio 2005.
Hope this helps! If you have any concern, please feel free to let me know.
Best regards,
Yichun Chen

Hi Yichun,
Well I tried the Auto install tool and it crashed and hung my system.
Then an error 1704 popped up so I went into "REGEDIT" and deleted the open "SETUP".
I have had to do several "RESTARTS".
But when I go into "ADD and DELETE PROGRAMS" the item I tried to delete is gone. This leads me to believe that the process left some garbage out on the system but no telling.
So now I am going through the list where I downloaded the auto delete utility you set me up with. So far I have had no problems manually deleting the remaining software.
So when I get everything off I am going to reinstall VS2008 Pro.
I hope all is well with you;

- Hi,
You can remove Visual Studio 2008 Express at Control Panel.

- I really don't see a need to have Express on my system since I plan on using VS2008 Pro.
Would there be any reason to have both versions on a system?
Thanks Yichun. - Hi BobEKofMO,
Thank you for your reply.
If you want to only have Visual Studio 2008 Pro Edition, you can run AutoUninstall Tool to remove Express products. The reason depends on you. :)
Hope this helps! If you have any concern, please feel free to let me know.
Have a good week.
