    Environment: Windows 8 as VM in VMware player 5.0 running on Windows 7 Professional.

    Problem: Installation Failed while installing VS 2012 on Windows 8; below is the screenshot.

    Installation media as ISO mounted via Virtual Clone Drive setup on Windows 7 host OS.

    Make sure you verify the hash of the ISO before mounting it. Errors of this nature are most often caused by an incomplete or otherwise corrupt download.

    You could also use the web installer which would not have this problem.

    I have successfully installed VS 2012 on windows 7. I used the same disk to install it on a VMware 9 windows 8 enterprise and I receive the same error that was posted.

    Did you try the web installer? It would appear the ISO is valid but, for some reason, not working under VMware. You might try burning it to a DVD and mounting the DVD, but the recommendation is still to use the web installer.

    ISO also fails for me (mounted with Windows 8 built-in ISO support), but web installer works fine.
