Locked Import Issue in Lab Center

I am using VS2010 Ultimate with TFS 2010 Lab Management.  Also, we are using SCVMM 2008.

I am having an issue trying to import a VM from SCVMM into Lab Center.  When I open Virtual Machines and Templates, it finds my library server and the three templates that are there.  I click next to Machine properties and everything looks right.  I then click Finish and it just spins and spins until I eventually get this error:

    Import Failed

Team Foundation services are not available from TFSURL\DefaultCollection.

    Technical information (for administrator)

If it is truly finding the Default collection then it should know that the services are there right?  Has anyone seen this before and is there anything that I can do to resolve this?

    Thank you.

    Hi Matt,

So, at this time are you able to access the TFSURL\DefaultCollection from the VS on the same machine of MTM? Please also take a look at the event logs on the Event Viewer to see if there is anything useful.

    Thanks.

Thank you for the reply Vicky.  Yes I am able to access my Default Collection and all Projects from my machine running MTM.

I have this error but it doesn't help me much:

The description for Event ID 0 from source VSTTExecution cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

    (mtm.exe, PID 5832, Thread 1) Import failed.

the message resource is present but the message is not found in the string/message table

    Hello Matt,

Let's narrow down your issue to find the root cause of it by doing the following test: please try another machine with the user account you currently use do the same operation, will you still get the same result? In addition, to have a check to see if there is something wrong with your TFS Server, you can run the TFS Best Practices Analyzer. In order to get it, you need to install TFS2010 Power Tool: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/bb980963.aspx

And it is better if you can provide me the complete error stack you get on your machine which may be helpful to find the root cause of your issue.

    Thanks.

I tried to import all of my templates and they are all failing.

I ran Best Practice Analyzer and it is giving me 2 errors.  The first one just says that my user account does not have access to Reporting Services which is fine but the second one says Service host "TFSMGMT.exe" is offline.

The only errors I have seen just have an Event ID of 0.  Is there some place to go to get the actual stack?

    Hi Matt,

The error message: Service host "TFSMGMT.exe" is offline indicates that Team Foundation Administration Console is offline. Please go to the IIS on the TFS AT server and make sure the status of the Microsoft Team Foundation Server Application Pool is Started.

    Thanks.

I got this to work but I really do not know how.  I tried to reinstall VS 2010 SP1 over the weekend but I guess it got stuck.  When I came in today, it was still installing from Friday.  I hit Cancel on the install and waited but it wasn't doing anything.  I rebooted the computer.  Everything came back up OK.  I tried the import again and it worked.  I don't really know how or what I did.  I thought it was going to mess everything up since I killed the install but instead it fixed everything.

Thank you for the help Vicky.
