Whenever I try to install Visual C++ 2008 Express, the installation program (whether Web-based or from the ISO image) always fails during the installation of the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5. The error-reporting dialog appears, and I can't glean any information
about why setup failed from that dialog or the technical information button therein. I'm using Win XP SP3. I've already tried restarting my computer twice, to no avail, and I also tried uninstalling previous versions of the .NET Framework.
