Installed VS 2010 Beta, version 10.0.20506.1, on Vista Ultimate two weeks ago.  I took all the default values for the install.  It was a smooth install; nothing to report other than thumbs up.  This past weekend I upgraded/installed Windows 7 on the Vista machine.  I tried to run VS 2010 but not able to; the splash screen does not even appear. I see devenv.exe starting a thread by watching Process Monitor when launching VS 2010. The thread dies after a second or two.

I go to Event Viewer and see the following:

Any ideas of may be the issue?

I did try to run VS 2010 as the administrator to see if that helped.  Nope.

I need to prepare for a discussion on VS 2010 by next Tuesday, so any suggestion will be appreaciated.

    Hi Gerald,

This is a known issue - upgrading to Windows 7 will cause Visual Studio 2010 Beta1 to stop working.  Uninstalling and reinstalling VS should fix the problem, though I would encourage you to switch from VS 2010 Beta1 to Beta2, which becomes publicly availalbe tomorrow.  If you have any further trouble with this, please feel free to post again here anytime.

Thanks for trying VS 2010 - hope this helps!
