FIXED : UK Ordnance Survey (OS) Map 1:25,000 Scale ("Explorer") Layer Missing on maps.bing.com

Hi

The UK Ordnance Survey 1:25,000 Scale Layer ("Explorer mapping") is no longer being displayed, either by the API or directly on maps.bing.com

The 1:50,000 scale layer ("Landranger mapping") still works fine.

The Bing maps team (see below) say this was caused by an error in October's  imagery update, and that it should be fixed in the next one.

As they happen "every 3 or 4 months", this means it will not get fixed until sometime in Jan or Feb next year.

I want to know too - its affecting my WP7 app. Not only is bing maps affected but any applications using bing maps api. The switchover happened on Saturday, at first I thought it was a bug in my app as I lost the map suddenly whilst I was running it!

Well I've managed to track down a support email and sent off the following question:

Up until Sat 8th October I was able to view the UK Ordnance Survey 1:25000 'Explorer' maps on maps.bing.com. I am no longer able to view these maps, with only the 1:50000 scale 'Landranger' maps available. This is also affecting my WP7 app which targets the OS Maps via the bing api.
Are the 1:25000 scale maps no longer available on bing maps? Or is this a bug?

The 1:25,000 OS layer is missing from maps.bing.com - not just maps via the Ajax 7.0 API

Looks like a map-tile release error - something similar happened a few months back.

This forum is patrolled by Bing developers (btw thanks for adding OS maps to the REST api) - hopefully 1 of them can escalate this

I notice that other services I sometimes use for OS1:25000 maps (e.g. http://maps.the-hug.net/ and http://data.nbn.org.uk/imt/) are also unable to display OS maps at this scale.  This has just happened in the last few days, too.  The conspiracy theorist in me thinks that the problem is a licensing issue, but I'm sure we will know for sure soon enough.

Ths is still broken - both using the v7 API, and directly on maps.bing.com. Please could someone from the Bing Maps team provide an update.

Will this be fixed, or has the 1:25,000 layer mapping been removed for good?

A data update we received was missing the higher detail data. It will be re-published as soon as a new copy is received and processed.

Imagery updates occur in Bing Maps ever 3-4 months. The last one was around the end of September/ begining of October.
