AppFabric 1.1 Cache Server software requirements...

Question

Hi, I want to install AppFabric 1.1 as a cache server on a dedicated computer. The install doco at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=27115  lists software requirements that include IIS. If I only install the cache service (ie do NOT install cache client or hosting services/admin) do I really need IIS? If so, what for?

IIS is a requirement for Hosting components only - not required for Caching service.
