pb understanding machine.config and allowOverride=false

Question

• can we block allowoverride=false only certain sections of machine config file and only some applications not all

because when I try to do allowOverride="false" in the appSettings element I get error. Also if I set path="MyProject". It s not taken into consideration. My other projects are also overridden=false not only "MyProject"

Any good article or walkthrough about allowoverride=false and machine.config

2/ is this the right section to discuss configuration issues. where can I find a guide for all the sections in this forum
