I have searched high and low for anything on this error and have come up empty.
When adding a datasource connection I get a pop up box on the add database opjects form. The connection itself seems to test ok. The error is below.Any help would be appreciated

Hi BCooperider,
Welcome to the MSDN forum.
This exception is strange. And would you like to share the version of your VS as well as some information about your database?
I’m just wondering whether there is data in database, so please share the data in database at the same time.
If it is normal in database, I will suggest you to repair VS. You can refer to How to: Repair Visual Studio: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa983433(v=vs.90).aspx
I look forward your reply.

Hi Mark,
I'm using VS 2010 professional. The DB does have data and what confuses me even more is I have no issues if I add the same datasource to a lightswitch project as you can see below.I believe we are using SQL version 2005. I'll try following the repair steps as suggested.

The server I was on had several past installs of various versions. Oddly enough even though I could launch VS 2010 Pro, it wasn't in the list of installed versions when I went to run the repair. That aside, I did a fresh install on another server and was able to attach the datasource.
Thanks Mark for you advice, it was driving me over the edge.
