    Hi All,

I am getting this above mentioned error TF31002, when i am trying to connect to my TFS sever using the Server Name "myTFS" . But strangly it seems to be connecting to the same server if i give the TFS server IP address, instead of TFS Server Name.  This is confusing.

Could anyone let me know how to connect to TFS Sever using the Server Name itself.

    Thanks,
    sankar

     Answer
    Hi Hongye.

Pls see below for my answers for your questions.

You were able to connect to TFS by IP address but failed to connect by server name. If I misunderstood you, please let me know.

answer-thats right. could connect with IP, but not by tfs server name.

What's version of your TFS and Team Explorer?

answer- Team Explorer - Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Team Explorer Version 9.0.30729.1 SP

TFS - Microsoft Visual Studio Team System 2008 Team Suite

Have you set proxy on client machine?

              answer-could not get this question.

Can you visit the link in browser and what you see: http://myTFS:8080/services/v1.0/ServerStatus.asmx?op=CheckAuthentication?

answer-if i give http://myTFS:8080/services/v1.0/ServerStatus.asmx , it gives ' The page cannot be displayed' error .

but if give http://zzz.zzz.zzz.zzz:8080/services/v1.0/ServerStatus.asmx , it gives proper ' Team Foundation Server Status web service ' page

Please check the windows event log and if there is any error.

                  answer- no errors in log

    Thanks for your reply.

Do let me know if im missing anything here.

    Thanks,

    sankar

    Hi Sankar,

Can you ping myTFS and if it can't find the machine?

If true, this seems to be DNS problem. You need to contact your IT to resolve this problem. Thanks.
