TFS 2008 sp1 Slow with Visual studio 2008 dev edition
- Hi, I'm using Visual studio team system 2008 dev edition with TFS 2008 SP1. Whenever developer connected and launch the application, it's extreamly SLOOOOOOOOW. it's taking 50-60 seconds to get the 1st page rendered. why?? however, if I'm not connected physicall to TFS server, it's very fast (e.g. 1st page will appear in < 5 seconds).. Any idea?? during that period, eventhough the CPU utlization is < 10%, it's just wait for whatever reason i don't know...
I went thru the url and http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/tfsversioncontrol/thread/7b708830-3c0e-4501-9ff3-3b9a183bef41 and already updated VS90-KB947751.exe but still very slow.... why? any suggestions??- Changed TypeRuiz YiModeratorMonday, November 09, 2009 2:02 AMCustomer is unresponsive

- Hello, does the delay happen when you start Visual Studio or when you are loading the solution? What is exactly "1st page"?The fix that Ben Ryan was referring to, affects performance only when big solution is loaded.
Michal Malecki - hi,
whenever i "Execute" or press "F5", it takes looooong time to get the default page shown in browser. However, if i disconnect from TFS server (by disabling LAN), it's very fast..
any idea?? Pls help. thanks. - I doubt TFS is causing your problem. You can verify this by removing all TFS bindings from your solution in File -> SCC -> Change SCC.Chances are you have some sort of network setting that's waiting for a long timeout before it gives up. Examples might be trying to resolve the host name via a DNS server that doesn't exist, trying to talk to a domain controller when you're not at work, or trying to go through a slow/dead http proxy. Naturally, when you pull the plug, Windows no longer tries routing any packets externally and goes straight to your locally hosted page. So if the above trick with unbinding doesn't help, check your DNS/proxy/etc settings.
Hi Rama,
In addition to Richard, What is the performances of TFS, i.e. CPU/Memory Usage. How about open/edit file with VS just on TFS App Tier?Best Regards.
