how to check out a series of source files using a script

Why does the FAQ at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/teamsystem/dd446287.aspx reference an outside website
(http://blogs.vertigosoftware.com/teamsystem/archive/2006/01/18/Team_System_Using_the_Console.aspx) to
answer frequently asked questions about command-line interfaces for source control in Team Foundation
Server? (One would prefer that MSDN would maintain its info on the Microsoft web site somewhere; unfortunately this URL cannot be found.)

I would love to receive info here on how to check out a series of source files for TFS 2005 using a script, to save time. Thanks.

We do maintain a TFS command line interface reference on MSDN ;).

I don't know how familiar you are with tf.exe, but you can either put a list of tf commands (tf checkout file1, tf checkout file2) in an ordinary bat (or cmd) file, or use tf @ to run a list of commands from a text file within a single tf process (make sure you leave out the tf before each command if you use @).

Please keep in mind that the page you are referring to

is about TFS 2005. The latest release was TFS 2008 and TFS 2010 will ship soon (we just released beta2).
