We have one server given by client on which TFS 2005 is there. Can we go ahead for upgradation of same server to TFS 2008?
is there any new license required for upgradation from TFS 2005 to TFS 2008?
we have licensed copy of TFS 2005 given by our client.

    Hi M_bond,

    Thank you for your post.

For License issue, license experts can help you to answer your question.

Since the question is a license issue, you can call 1-800-426-9400, Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (Pacific Time) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist, and you can get more detail information from there. FYI:
Before the migration, please remember to backup necessary stuff.
To migrate from TFS2005 to TFS2008, here are some good articles referring to migration.

    Hi Mayur Bondre,

    Thank you for your reply.

I'm not quite familiar with license issue. If you have any technical concern, I'm willing to help you on that. For license, I'm not the expert. Sorry for that.
I think that contacting license experts is the best way to solve your issue. :)

    Best regards,

    Hi,

    For your licensing question.

You will need a new key for TFS 2008.

If you upgrade without a license, it will be trial for 90 days (not 180 days like it was for 2005).
You can extend the trial period 30 days with the tool on this blog:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/bharry/archive/2008/01/15/checking-your-tfs-version-and-extending-trials.aspx

    Hope this helps.
