Do we need license to enable TFS Web Access Feature?
- We have installed licensed TFS 2008 on one of our servers and we have setup some projects on it.
We would like to install the TFS Web Access tool on this server so that we can use the Web Access feature of TFS to enable project managers access the project work items.
Is it included (free) in the license of TFS to enable the permission of this feature on the TFS Server or there is extra cost associated with this (maybe per user or per project - I don't know)?
We developers are using Team Explorer so I assume we have license for Team Explorer users but I am not sure that's the same license of TFS web access client?
Please let me know.
Many thanks,

The license model of TFS is on a trust base, so you can attach as many users as you want - there is no technical limit. Every single user that makes use of TFS data needs a CAL (Client Access License), that is connecting to TFS via Team Explorer, TSWA, Excel or via Reporting. The only exception is WIWA (Work Item Web Access).
AFAIK when you buy TFS, you receive 5 CAL's. Also every MSDN subscription gives you 1 CAL. So if you are in a company with 25 users. 10 users have a MSDN subscription, then you need to buy 10 additional CAL's. (then you have 5 from the TFS buy, 10 from the MSDN subscription and 10 from the additional CAL's )

- Hi,
Team System Web Access is a free download. You must be a licensed user of Team Foundation Server to access Team System Web Access.
- I can use Team Explorer, does it mean I am a licensed user?
Yes. - Many thanks guys.So what this means is that we, developers, who have Team Explorer we have already the CAL and we can use TSWA.Project Managers who want to use TSWA they have to have CAL to use it.Is there any enterprise CAL? I mean what about large companies e.g. 1000 developers? What is the price of CAL anyway?

- Having Team Explorer is not the same as having a CAL!!
There is no enterprise CAL, the price of a CAL is approx $500.
