    Hi,

I am getting the following error while trying to create a new TFS 2008 project in Visual Studio 2008. Any help will be highly appreciated.

The Project Creation Wizard encountered an error while uploading documents to the Windows SharePoint Services server on kailash.

I can not browse to a Team Project site as it is grayed out. Also, the Documents folder has a red cross mark besides it. When I try to create a new project, I get error TF30177. Here is the log.

    Thanks,

This team project was created based on the 'MSF for Agile Software Development - v4.2' process template.

    Hi Pankaj,

    Sorry for my delayed reply.

When you delete site collection, have you select the "Change Site Collection" in the dropdown?

If you already select it and can't find the site, it seems to be something wrong in the SharePoint. You'd better to have a check of the event viewer to find any error message. You can reproduce the error by create a new site and visit the site.

If there is no error in the event viewer, you can turn on dianostic logging on Sharepoint. Please follow the instructions in the link:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc288649.aspx

Another way to delete the site is by command line. You can have a try of the stsadmin tools:
    stsadm -o deletesite -url <URL name> -gradualdelete
For detail information about how to delete a site collection, please visit: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262392.aspx

    Hello,

    The error message:

Another site already exists at http://kailash/Sites/Test2. Delete this site before attempting to create a new site with the same URL, choose a new URL, or create a new inclusion at the path you originally specified

Indicates that there is an existing site on http://kailash/Sites/Test2 managed path. You should follow the instructions to delete the site.

Or you can follow the link at: http://blog.hinshelwood.com/archive/2007/08/20/Team-Foundation-Server-Error-TF30177-Team-Project-Creation-Failed.aspx

to define a new managed path and change TFS mapping to sharepoint.

    Hello Hongye

I did follow the steps above and it still did not work. The reason may be that the top level "Site Collection List " in WSS shows up Test1, Test2 and other sites which actually don't seem to exist. I tried to delete Test2 from " Central Administration > Application Management > Delete Site Collection ", however, I don't see any sites listed under site collection. I tried to create a top level site collection "/tfsprojects/testsite" using Central Administration > Application Management > Create Site Collection. It tells me that sites were created successfully. When I tried to navigate to the sites following its creation, e.g., http://kailash/tfsprojects/testsite, it came up with page not found error. How come WSS is creating site collection as well as new site in the database, but it does not get created physically?

Also, the link above is for a TFS 2005 and some of the steps like "
    TFSReg.exe RSRegister.xml " listed don't apply to TFS 2008

    Pankaj
