Is it possible to create an additional 'Area Path' Drop-down using a 'TreePath' Field Type?

Our company has a need to have two different 'Area Path' selectors.
1) Will categorize tickets by product\module\form (which is what we currently have)
2) to categorize tickets by levels of concern (we're implementing 'Heat Mapping' to identify area's of the product that's giving users the most problems).
Is it possible to create a secondary 'Area Path' using a 'TreePath' Field Type?

Yes it is possible to customize the process template to include additional controls like Iteration & Area path controls.
From top of my head
1. Download process template editor http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/c255a1e4-04ba-4f68-8f4e-cd473d6b971f
2. Open the work item template you want to modify (best not to modify the existing template while you are still trying out stuff)
3. Add a new global list for product/module/form and area path http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms404878.aspx
4. Add two new controls to the work item template and associate the global lists with those controls.
This visual studio gallery article shows you how to do this directly with the XML and how to do it using the process template editor. http://visualstudiomagazine.com/articles/2011/09/09/process-template-customization.aspx
If you have any follow up questions feel free to add to the thread.

Hi Tarun,
Thanks for your quick reply.
One additional note though is that we did not want the new controls to be driven by a Global List, instead we wanted to create an additional control with a 'Field Type' of 'TreePath'.
Is it possible to create a secondary 'Area Path' control with a 'Field Type' of 'TreePath' in VS2010?

It is not possible to have other tree controls other than the area and iteration path out of the box.
We have it on the backlog though (but I cannot give you any estimation if and when we will deliver it)

Hi mike,
I have searched a lot, and tried some methods, but i cannot create another area path that is parallel exist with an existing one. And, Ewald let us know it is not support by current release.
Best regards,
