What is the best way to limit work in progress using TF 2012 Process Templates?

Hello,
I want to be able to limit the work in progress. I am using MSF for Agile, but can use any other process template which supports this too.
Question: What is the best way to limit work in progress using TF 2012 Process Templates?

Just to embellish on this a bit. We want to use the Kanban style of limiting the number of User Stories in progress at any one time.- Edited by Jean-Pierre Fouche Wednesday, January 23, 2013 3:22 PM

Hi Jean-Pierre,
There is no way to enforce Work In Progress limits. If you install Update 1 for TFS 2012, you will be able to see the WIP limits;
- Open your Team Project in TFS Web Access
- Go to the Product Backlog
- Click the "board" tab below the "Product Backlog" title
Apart from that you could create a custom report of course.
Kind regards,

Hi Jean,
Thanks for your post.
For this issue, as Fokko said, there’s no default way to enforce work item In Process limits.

Hi Fokko,
Where is the '4/10' specified? I do not see this on my board.

Hi Jean-Pierre,
Are you looking at the "Board" tab in the Product Backlog? Did you install Update 1 for Team Foundation Server? It is required in order to have this feature.
Otherwise, please include a screenshot.
Kind regards,

Hi Fokko...
I have not installed update 1 on the server yet, as I cannot find the download. Is there a separate Team Foundation Update 1 package? I see only TFS with Update 1.

Hi Jean-Pierre,
It is correct, there is only a full installation for TFS 2012 with Update 1. That is not a problem, you can use this full install to upgrade your existing TFS 2012 environment. However, please take care, there are some issues with Update 1.
Read about these issues on:
- http://blogs.msdn.com/b/visualstudioalm/archive/2012/12/21/tfs-2012-update-1-permissions-lost-on-attaching-a-collection-fix-available-in-early-january.aspx
- http://blogs.msdn.com/b/bharry/archive/2013/01/11/tfs-2012-update-1-hotfix.aspx
Apart from that, Martin Hinshelwood has posted a blog about the update. Don't forget to take a snapshot (if you use a Virtual Machine for TFS);

I am using a physical machine for my non-production TF implementation. Running the installer for TF with Update 1 has now blatted all of the configuration, and I am left with the upgrade wizard!
Fortunately, the databases are intact, so I will reattach them. I would appreciate a separate Update 1 installer, as firewall issues here prevent the original installer from getting the updates over the internet.
Question: Can you recommend a suitable procedure for reattaching the db's? Should I run the configuration wizard and then reattach, or simply reattach?

Hi German Shepherd,
Can you please start a new topic for your question? Your question doesn't align with this topic anymore ("What is the best way to limit work in progress using TF 2012 Process Templates?").
Thanks for your cooperation!
