Project 2007 SP 2 integration with TFS 2008 SP 1
- I was working fine with project 2007 SP2 and TFS 2008, but after I update the field mapping I'm having a big problem when I try to add task from tfs to project, the task are added but only the title information. All the other fiels that were supposed to get like the title, are white without any value.
Is this a bug? How can I fix this problem?

- Hi David,
What mappings were changed? We've found some issues around changing certain types of field mappings. Are the newly mapped fields on the view? And last, (and I hate to ask this), have you tried closing and reopening your mpp file after the mapping was changed?
If possible, I'd recommend that you move to the the TFS 2010 Beta1 to work with Project 2007. The integration with Project 2007 has been made much more stable (but you may need to move your old projects where you had run into issues, by hand). We've found and fixed some bugs around changing field mappings in Beta1, more are coming in Beta2.
Thanks.
Mareen. - Hi Mareen,
First thanks for your reply.
We add a new mapping relatd to the estimated work with project pjTaskText15 field and after the update then all was going wrong.
We try to close / open, to change again the mapping and many other test.
The problem is that after the mapping when we try to get any workitem, the workitem information (Id, Area, iteration, type) is not coming to the project, then isn't possible to publish because there aren't any Work Item ID. But if we create a new mpp related to the same project then with this new mpp is working corretly the tfs project mapping.
But we are working getting all the task to the project, making the taks planning and publishing to project server and to tfs. Because our developers are using projects server to fill timesheets. Then after we change the mapping we werent able to get the tasks properly and our developers werent able to fill the timesheets.
Thanks.
David. Okay thanks David. The ability to have the same project plan sync with both TFS and Project Server at the same time, was not a supported scenario with TFS2008 or TFS2005 -> I dont believe it was ever tested.
That said, we've recently talked to many folks who are storing and publishing project plans in Project Server, then checking out and hand-syncing them with TFS (like you are doing), so we'll make sure this scenario works well with TFS 2010 Beta2.
Meanwhile, hand-porting broken plans is your best bet - if you run into issues doing this, please send me email at mphilip at microsoft dot com.
Thanks.
Mareen.Hi Mareen,
After we changed the field mapping in our projects we got this error. Then we created againg all the projects in project server, we connected again the projects to tfs and we continued working fine in this way with the new projects and tfs. The main problem we faced, was that all the developers were filling the timesheets in the project server and when we created the new projects again, we lost timesheets information.
Last week aparently without doing any special change, only working with project server and tfs, we got again this problem in one project. Only in this project, because we are working daily with 4 projects and without any problem.
Is there any way to debug or to be able to do something to try to detect what is the problem?
Thanks.
David.- Hello,
I also need an answer for this issue.
My problem is as follows: while in the middle of working with a mpp file, with data extracted from the TFS file, the TFS mapping file was changed.
This cause that for new items, only title was loaded, not even the ID is not loaded.
If you were able to solve this, please help, also.
Regards,
Gab - Hi Qntrix,
Sorry but I didn't resolve this problem. When I got this problem, I create again a new project and bind to tfs, loading again the workitems and making again the planing in project.
Regards.
