This post will contain an ongoing list of Information, Issues, Tips and other important items for Beta2 and will be updated by the TFS product Team.

    Finding Install Logs

Many times we may ask for install logs to help diagnose a problem.  You can find these located at %temp% (In some cases they may be in the parent directory of %temp%, so if you dont see them right away, navigate up one level)

The 3 main logs we will want to look at are:
    dd_install*
    dd_depCheck*
    dd_VSMsiLog*

In addition to these setup logs, we also need the configuration logs from:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Team Foundation\Server Configuration\Logs (Windows 2003)
    OR
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Team Foundation\Server Configuration\Logs (Windows 2008)

Zip these up and send them to the address provided.

    Backing Up Beta2
When Backing up Beta2, it is important that you create a consistent backup with all DBs at the same point in time.  If this is not possible,  it is important that you always back up your Configuration Database last.  Do all Team Project Collection DBs and then the Config DB.

    Proxy Server Installation
The proxy server will need IIS manually installed before running the proxy wizard.  In beta2 the wizard incorrectly states that it will install IIS automatically.

Installing TFS Basic with an Existing SQL Server
There are several scenarios in Beta 2 where the wizards will not correctly detect and use an existing SQL Express Instance.  In general, we will not install SQL Express for you if there is an existing version of SQL express, even if it is a version that connot be used with TFS (such as SQL Express 2005).  We will also may not correctly detect an existing SQL Express 2008 instance, and you will need to manually enter the instance name as part of the wizard's Database screen.  Please see the ReadMe included with Beta2 for all of the specifics and workarounds.
