    Error
TF30004: The New Team Project Wizard encountered an unexpected error while initializing the Microsoft.ProjectCreationWizard.Reporting plug-in.
    Explanation
TF30171: The Microsoft.ProjectCreationWizard.Reporting plug-in used to create the new team project could not be initialized and returned the following error: TF30224: Failed to retrieve projects from the report server. Please check that the SQL Server Reporting Services Web and Windows services are running and you have sufficient privileges for creating a project..

    Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008 TFS 2010 Beta 2 Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate Beta 2

I'm in a new environment so I need to be guided through this error. I've done a little research and found that there are no Site Settings Options under the TfsReports | Properties tab.

I've made an attempt at assigning membership fot TFS but I'm a newbie and don't know if it's set up correctly either.

    Help?  :)

Ewald, I have added credentials to my dev dox for the TFS box Hostname.

    That did not work.

    BUT(!)  ;)

I added the TFS hostname and IP to my local host file and re-connected to the Collection in VS using a new connection based on the host name instead of the IP and...

TA-DA! I can see my project from the Dev box!

Can I create a project from my local Dev box??

    <h1>YES!!!</h1>

Problem solved. To celebrate I think I'll create a Work Item in my brand new working TFS Project, and MARK IT DONE!! Yeah!!!!!!

    Isn't being a geek cool?

You do not have access to the report site. To setup the correct security see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms156502(SQL.90).aspx.

When you do not see Site Settings, it means that you do not have enough rights to set the authorization. Please contact your SSRS admin.

I'm still having this error. If I log onto the TFD server as administrator and go to http://<servername>/Reports I can see the Site settings. I clicked it and then Security and then added New Role Assignments for myself (local login) and 2 admin accounts that are admin accounts for SQL and TFS.

When I am back on my dev box in VS 2010 Ultimate beta 2 I can cannect to the TFS but I still cannot create a new Project in team explorer.

    Help!

I'm thinking of installing VS 2010 Ultimate Beta 2 on the TFS server to see if I can create a project from the server itself. It might help me diagnose if it's a Network user issue. I forgot to mention that the Server is in it's own workgroup. I have local users created with admin rights that I created Role assignment for but I was trying to create a project from my local box Using VS 2010 Ultimate Beta 2...

Installing VS 2010 on the TFS server and adding the project from there did the trick. So that's a good step.

So it appears I have a network user rights issue? The TFS box is in it's own workgroup and now I can access http://<SERVERNAME>:8080/tfs from other nodes on the network, after entering my TFS Local user name and password in the modal dialog that pops up.

I Still want to create projects from my local dev box obviously so where do I go from here?

    TIA!

Your problem is that you do not have direct access, maybe - it is just a thought - you can add your tfs server to the stored credentials (open control panel and search for credentials to find the function)
