Email Alert on Any Check-in associated with Closed Workitem
- Hi All,
I have been using alerts for long time and it helps me alot to monitor anybody overriding the policy. so if anyone checks-in code to Any project and overrides the pollicy it sends me an email. (this is working great).
Now i want to create another alert So that , if anybody cheks-in code and assigns the changeset to already "closed" workitem, i want it to trigger an alert to me.
Can anyone please suggent me how ot create one like this. M sure it mus be preety simple but i cant find the options. BTW i am working on TFS 2008 version with POwer Tools installed.

I don't think that is possible with the default alerts. But you can write your own logic to hook into the eventing service of TFS: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc507647.aspx
Another solution for you is a checkin policy that you only allow that a work item from a specific query is allowed: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/teamsystem/bb980963.aspx#checkin (the Work Item Query Policy)
