Hi experts,

Please help me to get the information :: comparision sheet between IBM RCT Vs MSTFS 2010. My client is asking why should i migrate TFS 2010. I want to give a strong comparision sheet between IBM RCT Vs MSTFS 2010.

 Hi Venkate,

Rational Team Concert is IBM's developer focused solution built on the open Jazz collaboration platform.  RTC is very well suited for distributed development or for teams adopting agile or traditional development practices.  RTC does a really nice job of supporting heterogeneous development for companies who are trying to manage Visual Studio IDE,  Eclipse IDE, and even legacy mainframe development.  The planning component in RTC is built right into the work item component so you get dynamic, real-time planning.  For example. visual progress and load bars reflect the teams status towards a plan, as well as support for web based taskboards for running daily stand-up meetings.  The notion of web browser support in RTC is quite strong with plans, work items, role based dashboards all having very deep support to allow extended teams to collaborate outside of the traditional development team boundaries.  

RTC also supports built in version control and build and automates traceability as a developer performs work.  For example, any developer on the team can fix a broken build easily.  The RTC version control component also supports advanced features such as streams based and component based development as well as support for distributed version control like Git but you share components instead of the entire repository.  RTC  integrates with any build tool such as Hudson/Jenkins or MS-Build making it easy to adopt.  RTC is part of a broader ALM solution from IBM that includes Rational Quality Manager for test management and Rational Requirements Composer for formal requirements management.   All three of these solutions share a common set of Web 2.0 based platform services such as reporting, user authentication or process control.  We call this shared set of services the Jazz platform.

IBM's ALM tools also leverage an open standard for data linking (rather than copying) that allows any home grown or third party tool to link into RTC data easily and in a standard way that does not lock you into platform specific API's or a single platform.   We call this Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration or OSLC.    To learn more about Rational Team Concert features see:
