Hi
I know about a bunch of companies hosting TFS etc. But what I would like to know is:
- How many poeple actually use these Hosted TFS services
- How is your experience using Hosted TFS - does it make sense from a cost, maintanence point of view, are there any issues that you run into.
Thanks

Hi Niel,
Whose TFS hosting service did you choose? I am looking for migrating my VSS databases to TFS (hosting service). And the questions you asked are also my concerns. Most importantly, I need a TFS hosting service which secure my project data the most.
Thanks,

Hi,
I ran a small team doing website development on ASPNET. You know how frequently web pages change, so I've been using Source Control for years. SourceSafe was my first system as it came with my VS 2005. It has been a headache as it always corrupt for no reason. As my team members travel a lot, I tried to find a hosted source control service so that we can work together anytime anywhere. Based on this idea, I came across a hosted service called "SourceAnywhere" which worked fine for me. Since all my team members are using VS2010 now, TFS 2010 seems like a good idea. So I started evaluating possible TFS hosting solutions. Coincidently, I got an email about my old provider's plan to support TFS this December. What's better is that they even provide a free trial for as long as 3 months! So I gave it a shot and am still evaluating it.
Ok, back to your questions:
- How many poeple actually use these Hosted TFS services
My team has 5 members in general. there might be 1 or 2 interns from time to time.
- How is your experience using Hosted TFS - does it make sense from a cost, maintanence point of view, are there any issues that you run into.
For hosted service, speed is my main concern. Fortunately, the provider is in the same province (BC, Canada) as me. So I can't really complain any on that.
Besides that, no need to set up TFS myself is a great relief for me, and maintenance is all taken care of by the provider. Their support is great, so no complaints on that as well. For the cost, the price for per person is 25 ~ 30 in the market. And as I'm on 3 month trial, no complaints yet.
All in all, I think you guys can have a try anyway since it's all free for 3 months. Why not? oh, by the way. The link is http://www.dynamsoft.com/Products/TFS-Hosting.aspx
Hope it helps.

Saturday, December 17, 2011 9:17 AMthe cost is from $25 - $30 per month per user for tfs basic edition (only bug tracking + version control features). if your team is small and cannot afford a dedicated system admin, guess tfs hosting might be a good choice.

Hi, glad to see an answer here and thank you for the recommendation.
In my case, around 10 people are going to use hosted TFS service. We are located in Toronto. I checked their website and found it might be a good choice for us. Good to know Dynamsoft provides free vss migration, 3-month trial and their experience in hosting service.
Two more questions here:1. What does "World class data center" mean? Somewhere in Canada? Is it trustworthy?
2. TFS basic is currently what I need. But it would be a plus to use some add-ons, like Urban Turtle.
Thanks.

Not sure on this. I only know their data center is here in Vancouver though. Based on my 2 years of experience with their service, it seems strong enough for me.Actually, I asked them about "Urban Turtle" once, they are probably going to add it but it's not available right now.
