Accessing TFS 2010 Iterations programmatically

Good morning,

I was wondering whether there is any way to retrieve Areas & Iterations in any other way than the raw xml data available via the ICommonStructureService? Raw xml always has a somewhat 'might-change-in-the-future' subtext.

Thanks for your post.
