TFS was working great on my machine. However, since I develop ASP apps, PHP, static HTML sites, etc, I need to have IIS and an Apache server installed on the same machine. I installed Wamp and now both IIS and wamp use port 80. Thus, to use Wamp, I have to go stop the IIS service and it works fine. To use IIS, I have to make sure Wamp is not running, then IIS is fine.

However, this has cause TFS to stop working. I try to connect in team explorer and it says "Team Foundation Services are not available from server [Hostname]".

If I go into Inetmgr under sites I see "Default Web Site" and "Team Foundation Server". The ID for TFS is 8080 but the Status says "stopped".

I have been trying to get TFS back up and running for two days now with no luck. Please help!

I also saw this post with the same problem, but their solution was to put TFS on another box. I don't have another box and have to have them both on the same PC. Thanks.

    Hi BBauer42,

    Thanks for your post.

As far as I know, the default port for Default Web Siteis 80, the default port for Team Foundation Serveris 8080. If stop IIS service, TFS Service will can’t work too. On your TFS Server machine, click Startand select Run… to open the dialog box, then input iisreset.exeand click OK, wait it run completely. Then check if the Default Web Siteand Team Foundation Serverare working under IIS.

To keep TFS 2010 work normally, you should ensure the IIS service work stably and normally on TFS 2010 Server machine. I suggest you don’t install that wamp on TFS Server machine, you can try install it on the client machine where still configured IIS service.

I ran iisreset.exe and it did not resolve the problem. When I open a project and hit the Go Online button, this is what I see. There must be a way to get this working... been down since Friday!

    Hi BBauer42,

    Thanks for your reply.

In your TFS Admin Console, we can find that the Service Account, Web site, Application Pool and Authentication, all Error retrieving value. In this case, I suggest you try to repair you TFS(Control Panel>>Uninstall/Change>>Repair), then check if the repair can resolve this issue.

There’s the same issue in this thread: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/tfssetup/thread/91007015-75c4-48be-9606-9ee807de4ebb/, but it not be resolved, Richard decided to uninstall and reinstall the TFS 2010 Server.

This issue requires more troubleshooting and I can’t reproduce this scenario on my machine. If it is urgent issue, I suggest you to contact a Professional Support Service at http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx?RDPATH=gp;en-us;offerprophoneto gain more support on this case.

Please note that: In order to keep the TFS 2010 Server work normally, don’t install the wamp on TFS 2010 Server machine. If you only have one machine, you can try to create a VM on your machine and install the wamp in VM.
