I'm receiving an error when trying to run a build on Windows 2003 Server, TFS 2008 SP1.

     TF209011: Could not create drop location {drop folder}\Contig_20091104.1: Could not find file '{drop folder}\Contig_20091104.1'.. 11/4/2009 2:04:11 PM

My Service account is given Full Access to {my staging share} and is part of the Build Services group.  I don't understand why it would be trying to find a file that is stamped like (build def name_date.build number).  I don't see anywhere in the build definition where I would specify that.

    Anyone have any ideas?  Thanks.

    Hi Brian,

Currently, I can't find any clue to this issue.

Can you do a couple of quick tests to narrow down the problem:

    1. Please do a test to create a new network share and try to repro the issue on the new share.
    2. Create a new and clean team build definition to build the solution. Please let me know if you added any special configurations.

    Hello woodtool,

    Thanks for reporting this issue.

TFS Build will create a folder named as <Build Type Name>_<Date Stamp>.<Number> as drop location.

Can you have a try to visit and create subfolder in the network share (drop folder) from the build server by service account?

In the meanwhile, I have several quick questions:

    1. Is drop location in the build server?
    2. Are you using domain or local account for build service?

    Thanks for your reply.
I am able to create a sub folder in the drop folder when logged in with my service account.  I double checked permissions and the account has full permissions on that folder.

The drop location is on the build server.
The service account is a domain account.

Thanks for your help Hongye.  When I created the new share I realized that I had the share set up incorrectly.
