    Hi,

I am looking for some clarification on the "create redirection option" when configuring SharePoint for Team Foundation Server. From the MSDN documentation (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd236907(v=vs.100).aspx) it is unclear if this option is for backward compatibility of if TFS 2008/2005 SharePoint and reporting services or just backward compatibility of SQL reporting services. Does this option suggest it is able to work around the minimal portal version requirements of TFS 2010. Is it possible to upgrade and configure TFS 2010 with a supporting SharePoint WSS 2.0 portal (avoiding the need up update the WSS 2.0 content database to 3.0?

    Thanks in advance,

    Jason

    Hi Jason,

    Thanks for your post.

As far as I know, WSS 2.0 is not support on TFS 2010, so we should install the WSS 3.0 or SharePoint 2010 for TFS 2010.

When we upgrade from TFS 2005/2008 to TFS 2010, if planning to use the existing WSS(3.0) instance of TFS 2010, and the SharePoint extensions are already installed, the configuration should be done as “Create redirection for previous versions” from the TFS Admin Console>>Extensions for SharePoint products. Additionally, you should create new web application in existing WSS 3.0 and TFS 2008’s WSS content database needs to be attached in it. Please refer to the Configure SharePoint for the imported project section in this blog: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/tfssetup/archive/2010/05/03/import-upgrade-upgrading-merging-a-tfs-2005-2008-instance-to-an-existing-tfs-2010-instance.aspx.

    Hi John,

That was a very helpful link which you provided.

I am clearer now on the system requirements and method of support for previous portal versions.

    Thanks,

    Jason
