TFS 2008/Visual Studio 2008 TF30004 TF30171 TF30224 Can't create a new project

Question

I am unable to create a new project using Visual Studio Team explorer 2008 with TFS 2008.

 

I am able to browse to the Reporting Servcies Site and teh Sharepoint site on the TFS Server.

My user is a Reporting Services sys admin and has all roles (inlcuding content mgr) in Reporting Services

 

A couple of weeks ago, I was able to create a project and I went back to create another one and started getting this error.

 

The report folder has a red 'x' on it for the existing project that I was previously able to create.

 

TF30004: The New Team Project Wizard encountered an unexpected error while initializing the Microsoft.ProjectCreationWizard.Reporting plug-in.

TF30171: The Microsoft.ProjectCreationWizard.Reporting plug-in used to create the new team project could not be initialized and returned the following error: TF30224: Failed to retrieve projects from the report server. Please check that the SQL Server Reporting Services Web and Windows services are running and you have sufficient privileges for creating a project..

As you have tried, we start trouble shoot TF20224 by checking permissions first:

1. Browse to http://<TfsSerever>/reports
2. Click Properties tab.  Assign your account Content Manager role.
3. Click the Site Settings link in the top-right corner.
4. Select Configure site-wide security. Assign your account System Administrator role.

If this doesn't help, please run Best Practice Analyzer shipped with TFS 2008 Power Tool to see if any clue can be reported.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem. I have checked permissions and runned BPA and no clue is reported.

I am running Windows 2008 Standard + SQL2008 Fresh install (i have disabled the firewall for now). Hardware: ESX Virtual server on a Dual Xeon CPU with 16 Gb ram.

Any idea?

My problem is fixed. VS2008SP1 must be applied after installing TFS Client.

Oh my god! Bill, are you read what I've written!? I ran BPA - it's report is nothing wrong. I've installed TFS under domain admin. Of couse his is already Content Manager and System Administrator.

I have the same Problem.

i installed WS2008 Ent (fr) + SQL Server 2008 Ent (fr)  + TFS 2008 (fr) + Team Explorer SP1.

i was able to create my first empty Project and five seconds after I tried to create a second empty project but i had this error message :

TF30207 : échec de l'initialisation du plug-in "Microsoft.ProjectCreationWizard.Reporting"

Erreur TF30004 : l'Assistant Nouveau projet d'équipe a rencontré une erreur inattendue lors de l'initialisation du plug-in Microsoft.ProjectCreationWizard.Reporting.

Explication TF30171 : le plug-in Microsoft.ProjectCreationWizard.Reporting utilisé pour créer le nouveau projet d'équipe n'a pas pu être initialisé et a retourné l'erreur suivante : TF30224 : impossible de récupérer les projets du serveur de rapports. Assurez-vous que les services SQL Server Reporting Services Web et Windows sont en cours d'exécution et que vous disposez des privilèges suffisants pour créer un projet..

Action de l'utilisateur Contactez votre administrateur Team Foundation Server.
