    Hi,

We have problems working with SSIS packages in Visual Studio and TFS, changes are being overwritten and new packages lost in the project files.

We have disabled “Multiple checkout” and enabled “Get latest on checkout”

Do you have any recommendations/best practices how to work with SSIS/Visual Studio/TFS

We use VS 2010 with SQL Server Data Tools with TFS 2010 but are upgrading  to VS 2012 soon an eventually to TFS 2012.

    hi Magnus

SSIS packages are not supported in VS 2012 as SSDT for VS 2012 includes SQL database engine support only and no support for SSRS, SSAS or SSIS.

    hi Magnus

we're using SSIS with SSDT and VS2010/TFS2010 and don't see a problem with loosing files.

    Could you mention more details?

After adding a new package to the project, do you check it into TFS (all files including projects etc.) and do you get latest version on another computer modifying the same projects?

But wait, I remember that a coworker missed to check in all files.

Please compare local directory with content of workspace after creating the initial project(s) and whenever you've added new files and add them if they're missing.

After the files are added to TFS once you should not get those problems you mention.

    Hi Daniel,

    Thanks for your answer!

New files that are added are checked in but sometimes when several people are working with the project files they are overwritten.

We use get latest and/or get specific all the time to make sure we have the latest versions.

I will send you a more detailed explanation the next time we get a problem.
