I would like to move my SQL Azure region ie. from East Asia to Southeast Asia.
Is there a way to do that without touch the database in current region, just move the current region to Southeast Asia ?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Christeddy Parapat,
Currently you can't move a server from one data center to another, instead you can do the following
1. Create a new Server in SouthEast Asia
2. Use SQL Azure Data Sync service to copy data from East Asia to South East Asia
3. Drop the server in East Asia.
For more information about SQL Azure Data Sync
New version of Data Sync has been released, For more info http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sync/archive/2011/10/13/sql-azure-data-sync-preview-is-now-available.aspx
Hope this helps !!!
It's not an one click thing. No. But you could use the SQL Azure import Export in the SQL Azure management portal to carry out what you are looking for.
Or follow what Arun C said.
But that's sounds like an awesome feature :)
Dont you use Azure Compute Instances as well? If so, where are they?
I was wondering why you specifically sought to move only SQL Azure to a different region and not your entire Azure asset base.
