    Hi All,

We have customized our Omega.MSSQL product for SQL Azure. This will let you connect to and browse your databases hosted in SQL Azure using just a web browser (only Internet Explorer is supported). This will help you manage your databases while Microsoft comes up with Azure Support in SSMS. You can manage tables, views, stored procedures, roles, and user defined functions using this tool.

    Hi Gaurav,

Quick question: I'm a bit uneasy giving you my SQL Azure credentials on your web site.

Is there anyway you could release a tool that would run locally - it could be a standalone WPF/Windows Forms client or a Silverlight/ActiveX that I'd run on my web site locally.

Love the Cerebrata tools - good work.

That is an important question. Who would in their right mind will give their password I wonder. If you can provide a screen, where after I login at the Azure site, I can then call up your explorer using the same or another browser.

    Hi Emmanuel,

I completely agree with you and understand your uneasiness about sharing your password with a 3rd party (like us). Have you looked at "SQL Azure Manager" (http://hanssens.org/tools/sqlazuremanager/)? It's a WPF client.

Coming back to your question, give me a day or two and I will make this tool downloadable from our website so that you can run it locally in your environment. However users will still run into the issue of blocked ports (1433) if they run it from within their infrastructure. So if you are an organization where Firewall has blocked this port, even if you have this application you would need to host it outside of your infrastructure.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Unfortunately we still are not able to prepare a downloadable version just yet. However we released a new version of this tool today. Here are the things we did:
    1. Support for creating/dropping User Defined Data Type.
    2. Support for creating/altering/dropping User Defined Table Type.
    3. Support for creating/dropping Synonyms.

Also we included our IP address of the server running this tool as well on the tool's login page.

Hope you'll find these enhancements useful.
