sqlio system counter?

Question

I had run some benchmark with sqlio with different settings, I would like to know what is the meaning of:

using system counter for latency timings, 3579545 counts per second

I ask because I'm running my benchmark on virtual machines(2) different version same host and they give me different values:

vm 1: using system counter for latency timings, 103127539 counts per second

vm 2: using system counter for latency timings, 3579545 counts per second

vm: win 2k8 x64.

Any input will be appreciated, thanks!!!
