Hello,
I found the following post:
The registry key mentioned on that post is the same.
Please make sure you run setup using an administrator or a user with administrative privileges.Hope this helps.

Monday, February 15, 2010 4:10 PMThanks, Alberto.. I have found this post as well in my research effort, and the error is exactly the same, so I had hoped the solution would be this easy. Nope.. the registry key does contain the correct hostname in the originalmachinename key..
I am running the install logged on as Administrator, even though my default account also has admin privileges, but I thought I would try that too, but no luck.
Any other suggestions? Would another log file be helpful?
Thanks in advance! -

Hi,
To work around the issue, try the following steps:
1. Add a group SQLServer2005SQLBrowserUser$STEVE-LAJB under Local Groups on the box.
2. Add Local Admin & Domain account running SQL Server Setup into this group.
If there are any more questions, please let me know.
Thanks.

I'm having the same problem; can you provide some more information on where and how to add a group "on the box"?
thanks in advance

Thanks for the screenshot but - I created the group and added the administrator and "user" but still get the same error. Are there any logs I can post that might be of benefit? I didn't see anywhere to add the permissions, but the "user" account is set up as an administrator so if it follows the normal path that should not be a hindrance.
I've tried 3 different install disks to make sure that it's not just the disk. I'd really appreciate any other thoughts or suggestions; I'm trying to install HAZUS, a FEMA product that we need.
Thanks
