If I am not wrong, once you start the SQL Server 2008 setup, it is stuck at Install_sql_common_core_Cpu64_Action

you may want to try slip stream setup of SQL 2008 and see if that helps. Disable any anti-virus services and reboot the server

    Hello,

SP2 or Sp3 is required to install SQL Server 2008 on Windows 8. Try a slipstream installation and use the following guide:

Please share the summar.txt log and detail.txt log files with us. You can upload them on your public folder on skydrive.live.com and share the Web address with us. The following article may help you locate those files on disk:

    Hope this helps.
