    Hi,

Is it still possible to download sql 2008 dev edition?  I've searched all over but can't find download links.

I do have a licence for this, I paid £45 about a year ago, however I've moved overseas and the disk is still in the

UK and getting it posted is a bit of a pain.  I do have my own licence key so can easily be verified.

This was posted in response to a reply where the poster had assumed I wanted a free copy - not true

How is that a similar issue???

That's a thread with someone asking for a free copy of sql, that's *not* what I asked...

I have paid for mine, I just need to download the media.

Sorry for this, I was referring to thread since there are relevant posts indicating that dev edition is not available for general download and if you don't have access to setup media, then may be you could download it through MSDN subscription.

Sorry again, I was referring to the thread since it contains relevant posts about the availability  of dev edition.

Another approach will be downloading Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 Enterprise Evaluation from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=1279 this is ok for 180 day trial then before the 180 days then  you could use your developer edition product key to upgrade the installed Enterprise Evaluation to Developer according to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143393(v=sql.100).aspx this is supported upgrade scenario.

One thing here this approach is not supported if you are doing Fail over cluster installation. It is good for standalone installation

    Hi,

Thanks for this, it would seem this is a good way to get the media which I can then legitimately licence with my key.

Apologies for being a bit hasty in flagging your first response as off topic.  Reason is that often on these

forums you get "Responder point hunters" who clearly haven't read the post and post a useless response. The

thing is then, that an unanswered question appears to have responses...

Now if only Microsoft would allow the original poster to remove certain answers I think the forums would be generally healthier.

    Thanks again for your help.
