    Hi,

i Need to get Reporting Server installed on a SQL 2005 Standard x64 Server with SP2.

When i get to the instalation screen the Reporting server option is grayed out.

    i Also get this version:

    - Edition Change Check (Warning)

    Messages

    · Edition Change Check

To change an existing instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 to a different edition of SQL Server 2005, you must run SQL Server 2005 Setup from the command prompt and include the SKUUPGRADE=1 parameter.

Is this due to service packs that is installed?

i Tried changing the app pool default from true to false in IIS but no luck,

How do i get around this?

How do i run the  SKUUPGRADE=1 if i only want to add reporting services or is there another way?

    Hi,

The addition of SQL server as above: SQL 2005 Standard x64 Server with SP2.

    OS: Win 2003 x64 (made a mistake here... Running Win 2008 R2 x64)

Yip, i tried all the suggestions by  Keerthi.

    Did not work...

If i enable 32-bit applications i get the error below:

32-bit ASP.Net is Registered. Required 64-bit ASP.Net to install Microsoft Reporting Services 2005(64-bit).

Disable it then that warning goes away.

At the bottom of the system configuration check i still get this error:

To change an existing instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 to a different edition of SQL Server 2005, you must run SQL Server 2005 Setup from the command prompt and include the SKUUPGRADE=1 parameter.

    i Now ran "setup.exe SKUUPGRADE=1"

Now the edition warning is not there anymore but Reposting server still grayed out...

i AM starting to think to upgrade SQL to SQL 2008 R2 as this is pretty urgent...Or can i install reporting server on a different server?

Have never done a upgrade, is it as easy tot pop in a disk and run the setup?

Did not think it would be relevant but with prepinned software maybe it is.

The client lost their SQL disk so i downloaded the software from MSDN...Maybe that is the version mismatch?

    Hello,

The SKUUPGRADE=1 is doing like an edition upgrade on SQL Server 2005. If you perform the edition upgrade first, restart the server, and try to add reporting services again.

    Hope this helps.

i THink i must run setup.exe SKUUPGRADE=1 and then choose all the options again...

Just want to know what it is going to do before i press next...

Thanks for your help so far!

    Hello,

Please perform backups of databases  before continue, just in case something does not finish as expected.  Once you create backups, please go ahead.

    Hello,

One last resource, please share what you can possibly share of the SQL Server error log (ERRORLOG without extension).

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello,

I cannot access this file at this time from the corporate network (blocked content) maybe later.

Maybe a select @@version statement can help us know if the version installed is Enterprise Edition. If this is the case, reinstalling the server with Standard Edition and restoring from backups the data could work, if the databases are not using Enterprise Edition features. If the databases use Enterprise Edition features (like partitioning), the restore will fail.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

    Results:

    Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.5000.00 (X64)   Dec 10 2010 10:38:40   Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation  Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1)

It is running standard edition...As far as i can see it is exactly the same is the version they had apart from the fact that it is a pre-pinned installation and the pin would be different on this installation as they lost their media.

i Cant see much errors in the error log.

Will see if i can paste some of it in this window

    Hello,

This is a SharePoint Database Server, so I am not afraid of the databases using Enterprise Edition features. I hope you know how to deal with this on SharePoint. From the database perspective, you can go ahead.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

There is SP running but not really used.

The main purpose is Dynamics AX but that is pretty easy to sort.

Ok, let me try uninstall and then reinstall.

    Thanks

Ok, uninstalled SQL...Still no option for reporting server.

    Removed IIS and .net 3.5.

    Reinstalled IIS

Now i could check Reporting Server...

    Busy installing SP4.

Problem must have been something with IIS but let me first test everything before i get to happy!

Thanks for all the help so far
