Downgrade BIDS 2008R2 to 2008
-
Thursday, February 14, 2013 8:25 PMHi Currently I have 2008R2 installed on a machine. All of the stuff in production is on 2008 SQL Server. I cant use 2008R2 Bids with the packages, it will update them for compatibility then have problems with 2008 environment. So, I need to downgrade to Bids 2008. I have access to all of the versions, I guess I am asking if someone has done this before, what is the best way. Im thinking of completely uninstalling and re installing, but Im hoping I dont have to. Sorry if this is a stupid question

Hello,
BIDS 2008 and BIDS 2008 R2 are compatible. Packages created on BIDS 2008 R2 will run on BIDS 2008 unless you are using components that exist only in SQL Server 2008 R2.
Hope this helps.

Ahmed, I had already read both of those before posting. I am not downgrading the server, just the client tools.
Alberto, I just uninstalled the SSIS, SSAS, SSRS components of SQL Server 2008R2. Tomorrow Im going to try an install them with SQL Server 2008. I heard this is possible through a freind. Any feedback on that?
Thanks for both of your input
