ProductImage Column on AdventureWorksDW2012 database
-
Tuesday, July 03, 2012 9:35 PMHello,
I am following the tutorial on Analysis Services Tabular Modeling here and at the lesson 3 I should found the ProductImage column in the Product table but it's missing ??
I searched for more recent AdventureWorksDW2012 on Codeplex but I already have the latest one. By the way, I found the AdventureWorksDW2012Images.zip file at the same place on Codeplex but could not find any instruction one how to install it ?
Would be nice if you could help understand...
Thanks in advanced
Regards
Stéphane

Stéphane,
In AdventureWorksDW2012, the product images are in the dimProduct table under the LargePhoto column; LargePhoto has been the name of that column since the beginning of AdventureWorks DW.
Why is it that in the Tutorial it was decided to called differently, that I don't know. Possibly the writer of the tutorial tried to mention the product image column, in the tutorial, and it ended up being a one word that looks like a column name.
Hope this is helpful.
With my best regards,
JuanPablo Jofre

Stéphane,
On your main question, I posted the answer at the end of your conversation with Derrick.
About the AdventureWorksDW2012Images.zip file; this was a byproduct of another process around the sample database that the sample team considered important to preserve.
I understand there are other demos that use those images; but, I'm not sure what or where those demos are.
With my best regards,
JuanPablo Jofre

Wednesday, July 11, 2012 5:40 AMHello JuanPablo,
Thanks for your answer,
LargePhoto and ProductImage are both in the article and LargePhoto column is useless there.
Anyway, I find logical that the tutorial of building a tabular database demonstrates ImageURL reporting property for furtur PowerView reports with the productimage column.
It sounds like the person who made the tutorial has worked with a different version of Adw database. Maybe there is something missing in the sql server samples project on codeplex.
best regards
Stéphane G.
