When storing the credentials of a data source in the server, are those credentials safe?

Yes, It is safe. Stored credentials are recommended as part of a strategy for accessing remote database servers. When we specify the data source with stored credentials, credentials are stored in reversible encryption in the report server database. Stored credentials are used if the report runs unattended.
