I have deployed a Report Model Project to http://pc:8080/ReportServer

It is however opening up in xml. I am not sure what is the proper way of doing this.

I installed SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer and just now installed Report Builder 3.0, thinking that it was necessary, but it made no difference to the output.

    Hi Meridius,

We can create report models in Model Designer (in SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio) or generate them in Report Manager or SharePoint Services, and then publish them to a report server or SharePoint site. We can manage report models just like other shared data sources and use it as data sources for reports created in Report Designer and Report Builder 3.0.

Generally, we use report model as data source. In you scenario, do you open it in report manager. When I open the click the report model in report manager, it goes to the properties page. For more information about report model, please see:

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Well I think this may be the problem. I have not been able to deploy to http://localhost/ReportServer

I am able to link to http://pc:8080/ReportServer

This may be something to do with the settings in the Reporting Services Configuration Manager of SQL Server 2008 R2. I am able to deploy to the existing web service url (as above) but can't seem to add or change to another url.

    Hi Meridius,

Does some error occurs when deploy to the Report Server http://localhost/ReportServer? Do you set the deployment properties correctly? You can refer to the link below to see more information about set deployment properties.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms155802.aspx

And if you want to change the URL of the Report Server, please see the MSDN document which tell you how to do it step by step.

If I have anything misunderstood, please point it out.

      Has Code

I didn't manage to change the url's because I'm not really sure that I understand how to. That doesn't really matter as I referenced the url to 'Reports' and not 'ReportServer' as above, in other words to the url of the 'Report Manager URL' and not the 'Web Service URL' in the Reporting Services Configuration Manager. This is http://pc:8080/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx

I then clicked on the relevant model and loaded it in Report Builder. It opens up Report Builder 3.0, but all the work in relation to the tables (entities) is missing. It only shows the Data Source and not the Report Model. I can, however, see the Report Model in SSRS.

I got this error msg, but I think it is unrelated to this problem:

Warning	1	One of the IdentifyingAttributes.AttributeReference.AttributeID properties of the Entity "Sales Order Detail" references the Attribute "Sales Order Detail ID", which is a hidden Attribute. This property should reference a non-hidden Attribute.	AdventureWorks3.smdl	0	0
