SSRS 2008 R2 Error - Unsupported RPL stream version detected: 34.62.1836345404. Expected version: 10.3.

Question

Hello,

Development Server

Recently, I have upgraded SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services (Integrated Mode) with SQL server 2008 R2 (Enterprise version). This reporting services configured with Share Point 2007 (MOSS) farm. Successfully upgraded the SQL 2k8 R2( Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Version 10.50.1600.1 ).  Before upgrade i can able to run report without any error but after upgrade when i tried to deploy report, report deployed fine, but when i tried to run report i got following error.

• An error occurred during client rendering.
  • Unsupported RPL stream version detected: 34.62.1836345404. Expected version: 10.3.

 

I can run report successfully directly from the RS server without going from Share point site.

Configuration Topology

 

1. Moss 2007 Application Server

2. WFE server 1 (MOSS 2007)

3. WFE server 1 (MOSS 2007)

4. Reporting Server 2008 R2 with RS add ins 2008 ( Just upgraded only this server, RS add-ins not upgraded)

 

Problem/Questions

 

1. Report is not working after upgrade, old reports nor new reports, why?

2. Report is working directly from RS server without going to Share point, so do i need to upgrade the RS add-ins OR am i missing something?

3. Can Share Point MOSS 2007 work with SQL server 2008 R2 OR do we need Share Point 2010?

 

 

If you need more information about Topology, please let me know . Please help me out. I also need to upgrade my Production server too.

Hi Mit,

The RS Sharepoint add-in contains a version of the Report Viewer control. In order for the viewing in Sharepoint to work correctly, you will need to install the most recent add-in.

I found following RS-add ins from MS but that's a CTP version, Is it MS released the new version for production server?

Hi Mit,

Just add to Brad's response, SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 is supported to integrate with SharePoint 2007.

I am getting the same kind of error on two reports only but we are not using RS in Sharepoint Integrated mode. Any ideas?

I just wanted to point this out.  If you have multiple SharePoint servers in your farm the reporting services add-in for SharePoint needs to be installed on the web front end servers.

Can reproduce the error and confirm that it is for us not possible to use a combination of SharePonit 2007 server and SQL 2008 R2 report server. For SharePoint server yo can only install the following latest report server add-in version 10.00.4000.00 from http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=793 However you will not be able to run a report from Sharepoint, because it will come up with the stream error and requesting for webpart version 10.50.1600.1 report server add-in version 10.50.1600.1 is only available for SharePoint 2010, which you can download from http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=622, but can not be used for SharePoint 2007 So even when it is stated that is is compatible, it seems that after upgrading to SQL 2008 R2, you are in problems. It seems that your only options are to upgrade to SharePoint 2010 or to downgrade to SQL 2008 SP2? Is upgrading/downgrading really the only option or does someone have a solution to get SharePoint 2007 working with SQL 2008 R2 report server?

I have all reports running well except two reports which used to run perfect but for some reason are showing error in the production sercer (2008 R2 NOT SHAREPOINT INTEGRATED). On the development server (2005) and in VS 2005 show fine. Used to be fine in the production 2008 R2 too! Now show error:

I still didn't get what the problem was but I got the report fixed:

My report had several subreports.

I saw that when I delete all them except a certain one the report runs fine. 

I copied the problematic RDL file to a new file.

Then I opened the original file in layout view and deleted all the subreports except the above one.

I then copied these subreports from the RDL copy to the original RDL (in layout view)

and somehow.... it worked!!!

(it might be related to zindex property although I tried playing with it a lot and it didn't help. But that looked like the only remarkable difference between the files).
