I have a PowerView report exported to PPT. I want to present it offline in presentation mode, however, i found it is not very user friendly because it will try to connect to Pwerview report in sharepoint 1st and will show the screen shot (as the same in normal slide mode) until failure. So I have to wait about 40 seconds until the slide shows up.

Is there any setting in PPT, which can enforce PowerView show screen shot immediately in presentation mode? I only need to present my report rather than interacting with it and my customers don't like to wait for 40 seconds to see the slide.

But that will lose the posibility of interacting if I need. So i think the best user experience in PPT is: Show as screenshot/offline by defaul even in presentation mode, and there should be clickable button or something. When user really want to interact with report, then they can click it to connect to SPBI and they should accept waiting for sometime to connect.

    Hi md4 !

Actually its by design, Power View Reports when exported to Power Point still have the interactive option enabled as default. IF it didn't find any source to connect it will stay offline mode. But by default its in online mode.

Please let me know if this doesn’t work for you. Hope I have answered you correctly.

    Hi Hasham Niaz,

Thanks for the comment and I understand it is current design. I would like to seek you guys and Microsoft opinion if it is possible to redesign it because it is quite bad user experience for the real use case I described above. And I believe majority of users want to present in offline mode 1st and need the sildes show up immediately.

    Thanks, Di

    Hi md4fun,

As Hasham posted above, this behavior is by design and I am afraid that we have to go with this behavior currently. I recommend that you submit this suggestion at https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/. If the suggestion mentioned by customers for many times, the product team may consider to add the feature in the next SQL Server version.
