But when i am trying to apply the CU6 Patch, it is failing on powepivot instance though Reporting service build is updated with 10.50.1765 but power pivot is still showing the base version i.e. 10.50.1600

i am applying follwing patch :SQLServer2008R2-KB2489376-x64 also i have upgraded with rsSharePoint installer.

    Hello IAhmer,

What's it that's failing with the PowerPivot CU? Can you share with us the setup logs? Or did it successfully installed, but some feature is not working?

    Thanks,

    Mariano

I have a very similar situation. I have a SharePoint Application Server with RS and POWERPIVOT instances on it. Trying to apply CU5 only the RS instance gets updated. POWERPIVOT and Shared features will not upgrade.

This is a server with RS and Powerpivot only. The dbms instance containing sharepoint config and content db and reportserver db is on another machine. Could this be a problem? Do you need to have a dbms instance in order to successfully apply the cumulative updates?

OK, so now I managed to get the CU6 on my PowerPivot instance.

Turns out there was a .net 4 framework installed on the machine, and from the update logs I could see the installer was using that framework unsuccessfully trying to access SharePoint components during installation.

    Hi Joakim

I've got the exact same problem, what steps did you take to get it installed?

    Hi Joakim

The cause of my problem was the .net 4 runtime installed on the machine, so I simply uninstalled it, then ran the CU6 update, and then re-installed .net 4.
