    Hi Deepak,

PowerPivot Confiration Tool is available to SQL Server 2012 RC0 version, have you intalled a earlier version before? If so you should clear out the older version, and then reinstall the latest version because it will not upgrade the older version.

If there is no earlier installation before, please Configure the Secure Store Service in advance then start the PowerPivot Confiration Tool, for more information about Configure the Secure Store Service, please see: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee806866.aspx

    Thanks,
    Challen Fu

There is no step in the Deployment Checklist which tells to set up Secure Store Service. The PowerPivot Configuration should create an operational farm.

Can you please provide me the exact step number for "Setting the Secure Store Service "  in the Deployment Checklist?

    Hi Deepak,

After further research, I think the error you encounter has relationship with Passphrase, sometime even if you meet the Passphrase complexity requirements, such as: The dollar sign in the passphrase is super important because it causes the Secure Store configuration to fail, as shown in the your screenshot, it seem this is a known issue in current version, which causes the error. The issue is most likely going to be fixed in the final release. So to this issue of yours, please reset your Passphrase and try again.

    Thanks,
    Challen Fu

    Hi Challen ,

After spending a day on this one finally was able to find the real issue...

THe user  should have Local Policy of Log On as Batch job.

My passpharase was Password1 - without any special characters  but still had the issue. But by having "Log on as Batch Job" local policy the install was smooth.
