hi, I am having Windows server 2008 SP2 and have installed SQL server 2008 r2 and also successfully install Sharepoint 2010 Enterprise RTM trial.
I have followed the instructions on the following link:
http://www.powerpivot-info.com/post/66-step-by-step-guide-on-installing-powerpivot-for-sharepoint
I have enabled mixed mode for sql authentication and have added the system Administrator there.
I have getting an error of "Invalid Domain user name" on the "New Sharepoint Farm configuration" form. I have tried system Administrator <MachineName/Administrator> as well as network Users (Active directory Users) but it gives the error every time
Am i missing something here ?

Hi Ovais,
You should use a domain account that has enough privileges to be the SharePoint Farm administrator. Did the network user you tried had such privileges?

Hello Ovais,
Just to be sure, you did not configured SharePoint in your server, did you? You should onlu have installed it, but not ran the Wizard.
Assuming you didn't run the Wizard, that is, you didn't configure the farm, the SQL Server PowerPivot for SharePoint "New Server" option will take care of configuring the farm for you. In order to do that, you need to provide a domain user to be the SharePoint Server account. This account should have administrative privileges on that server (you need to add it to the server admin group).
Did it help?
Best,
Mariano

Hi Ovais,
I'm talking Windows Server, not SQL Server. If that still doesn't work, could you send me the installation details.txt log under the SQL Server shared installation folder?
Best,
Mariano

thanks Mariano for your responses.
Actually, as i have figured it out, this error occurs if you are logged in from a system account no matter you provide the domain user account. I was logged in as a System administrator and giving the domain user credentials but the setup is using my logged in credentials and therefore, the error keep coming until i logged in with the domain user credentials and then provide those credentials again...
if you still feel that i am missing something, please reply...
thanks again....
