I have uninstalled office 2010 and Powerpivot, reinstalled per forum comments and still nothing. I do have .NET 4 installed. Any ideas?
1. Open Excel and select File->Options->Addins->Manage COM addins.
2. Put a checkmark in the box for the PowerPivot for Excel addin and click OK.I have also tried
- Click on the Environmental Variable
- Click on New User Variable
- Add VSTO_SUPPRESSDISPLAYALERTS with value 0 press OK
- Nothing!

1) make sure you have office shared and Office tools selected in the Office installation
2) Can you try repairing .Net 3.5, restart the box and try again?

Hi Raul, If you are using PowerPivot (SQL Server 2008 R2) 10.50.*.* then you need to have .net 3.5 and pick Office Shared Tools and Office Tools entirely while installing Excel. If you are using PowerPivot 11.0.* CTP2 (Code named Denali) then .Net 4.0 and VSTO for .Net 4.0.
Hope this helps!
