I have installed Powerpivot 2012. The powerpivot icon doesn't appear in de ribbon in Excel, where the 2012 version was.
When I open the Com add-ins menu, Excel says there was a run-time error loading the powerpivot add-in
Do I need to install the SQL server 2012 files in order to use powerpivot 2012?
Any other suggestions?

Uninstall any version of PowerPivot, you currently have installed.

PowerPivot for Excel is an add-in to Excel 2010 that use to create or view an Excel workbook that contains embedded PowerPivot data. If it not necessary to install SQL Server 2012. Please refer to the following prerequisites:
You must have Excel 2010 and Office Shared Features installed on your workstation. For more information, see PowerPivot client application requirements in Hardware and Software Requirements (PowerPivot for SharePoint and Reporting Services in SharePoint Mode).
You must have Microsoft NET Framework 4.0 (http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=17718).
You must have Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime (http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=20479).

Thank you! THis was the list I was looking for.
Works fine now, without SQL Server 2012 installation!
