I have a
column name returndate. already created power pivot excel.
i need
to create a new column with the month prefix and year of returndate.
How could i do this
in power pivot?

like this Jan-2012 or January-2012

question:

try =month([Returndate])&"-"&year([returndate]) result 1-2012
How could i place a zero
(before 1 which should be like 01-2012.THank you.

Easiest way is to use the FORMAT function in a calculated column like:
=format([week_end_date],"MM-yyyy")
=format([week_end_date],"MMM-yyyy") =format([week_end_date],"MMMM-yyyy")
First one produces the 2 digit month number you want, plus year (01-2012).
Second one produces abbreviated month name plus year (Jan-2012).
Third one produces full month name plus year (January-2012).
