PowerPivot and Data Feeds

Question

I have built views on my SQL data so that my users can analyze thier numbers using powerpivot via a "Data Feed" connection. I have created my own basic Authentication module and everything seems to work great expect for one thing.  It seems that powerPivot requests the same data multiple times. 

For example, when I test the login from the data feed connection wizard, PowerPivot tries the three times to connect, even though it was successful the first time. 

The part that is killing me is that once I check all the tables and click finish to import the data, PowerPivot will import the data 2x!  This really, really kills performance over the web.

BTW, I tested everything w/o my custom basic authentcation module and the result is the same, PowerPivot will request ALL selected tables twice!

BTW, when looking at the http activity with fiddler, I confirmed that it does not matter where I point powerpivot at, it will always download the feed 2X.
