"Initialization of the data source failed." trying to open the PowerPivot Window

Hi
If I create a new workbook and try and open the PowerPivot Window I get the following error:
"Initialization of the data source failed.
Check the database or contact your database administrator. Make sure the external database is avaliable, and then try to operation again.
If you see this message again, create a new data source to connect to the database."
Followed by:
Unable to load the VertiPaq engine.
I can open a PowerPivot workbook that I've created previously but can't create any new ones.
Any ideas/suggestions greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Matt

Hi Matt,
Can you confirm the versions of both Excel and PowerPivot that you are running. Also, you stated above that you can open a PowerPivot Workbook you created previously, but do not mention an attempt to open the PowerPivot Window in that workbook, can you confirm that this action works correctly?
Regards,
Linda

Hi Linda
I'm using the RTM versions of both Office and PowerPivot (x64).
I can open the PowerPivot window in the workbook I created previously.
Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,
Can you try the following and let me know what happens:
1) Un-install the PowerPivot add-in
2) Rename the folder c:\Program files\Microsoft Analysis Services
3) Reboot the box
4) Re-install the PowerPivot add-inRegards,
Linda

What troubleshooting steps can I take if this does not work? I have done this about 3 times now and I keep getting the same error.
